From 19 to 21 May 2026, the Institute of Art and Musicology at the University of Graz will host the international conference "Pupils, Patrons, Printers and Violin Culture in 18th-Century Europe". - The influence of the social and political context on music education and the careers of violinists.
- The mobility of violinists and European music networks.
- The role of patrons and music publishers in the dissemination of music and musicians.
- The development of violin making and its influence on playing techniques.
The event will take place in the Meerscheinschlössl (Mozartgasse 3, 8010 Graz) and will be held entirely in English. Each lecture will last 20 minutes and will be followed by a 10-minute discussion. The conference will be recorded on video.
